Guess we should’ve seen this kind of year coming for Oklahoma considering what the Sooners squad lost upfront on the offensive line, but no one was predicting that the Sooners would be the ones spoiling someone’s chances at a BCS bid in the annual Oklahoma State showdown.
The Sooners took to their new the spoiler role like Adam Lambert to makeup, beating Oklahoma State 27-0 and knocking the Cowboys out of BCS contention. With rumors of Sooner’s head coach Bob Stoops being in the mix for Notre Dame’s soon to be vacant head coaching job the Sooners made a statement as to why he should stay in Norman.
A 7-5 season and a probable trip to the Insight Bowl certainly doesn’t live up to Oklahoma’s expectations but the biggest concern following Saturday’s win isn’t facing Minnesota in the bowl game but securing Stoop’s commitment to the Oklahoma program.
It’s worth noting that building on his seven catch 117 yard performance against Texas Tech last Saturday, sophomore wide receiver Ryan Broyles returned a punt 88 yards for a score and caught nine passes for 103 yards in the win over Oklahoma State.
