Halladay will be a Philly
The National League champion Philadelphia Phillies are swapping aces in a three team deal that would land Cliff Lee in Seattle and Roy Halladay in the city of brotherly love.
The Blue Jays would receive Phillies outfielder Michael Taylor, catching prospect Travis d’Arnaud and pitcher Kyle Drabek. The Mariners would get Cliff Lee which is great for the short term but it appears that the Mariners are giving up their two highest rated pitching prospects to Philly as well.
Phillies outlook
Cole Hamles, Roy Halladay, JA Happ, Jamie Moyer and Pedro Martinez make for a solid rotation which will surely take a lot of pressure off a bullpen which struggled to close out games in 2009. Anyone wanna bet against these guys next year?

Hottie Cliff Lee is no consolation prize
Mariners outlook
The M’s wanted John Lackey but getting Cliff Lee who performed well down the stretch to pair up with Felix Hernandez is a pretty damn good consolation prize. With John Lackey’s move from the Angels to Boston and Chone Figgins defection from the Angels to Seattle, the AL West just got a lot more competitive.
Blue Jays outlook
A team that was really strong two years ago is in the midst of a major rebuilding program.

With summer winding down tempers are flaring, beers and balls are being thrown and the post-season push is heating up. It’s getting a little crazy in the major leagues and don’t think that Bud Selig’s not gonna notice the uptick in batters being thrown at over the past couple of weeks. Gotta feeling that Bob Watson is on da phone telling the GMs to put a sock on it or else. So maybe the steroid era will be replaced by the bean ball wars of 2009.
Some fucktard threw a beer on Shane Victorino last night from the bleachers at Wrigley. The fat asshole got pulled out by security. I’m all for drinking, and sometimes a golden shower, but I hate it when these guys still dealing with repressed feelings about being cut from the high school team insert themselves into the game.
He’s back
There was something really special about Pedro’s triumphant return to the major leagues last night. While it’s only one game I think he can and will contribute to another Phillies World Series appearance this year. Remember how dominant Pedro was during his career which spanned the rise and fall of performance enhancing drugs. Can you imagine how dominant he would have been if major league hitters hadn’t been cheating over the past 15 years?
His line, in case you missed it, might be a little deceiving cause he didn’t really get hit until the 5th.
IP H R ER BB SO WHIP ERA
5.0 7 3 3 1 5 1.60 5.40
A decent WHIP is around 1.50 so he’s not far off right now but his control was there (5K and 1BB). I know the Dodgers are the glam pick but when it comes to the post season I’ll take the guys who have ‘been there and won that’. The youth and promise of the Dodgers staff is just that until they prove it in the playoffs. And as Manny’s roids begin to wear off look for his production to tail off. Although as a gay sports fan I gotta say the Dodgers have the best looking team hands down.
Giants Having Fun
It’s great to see the Giants players and fans having fun again. What am I talking about? If you got a minute, read this SI article profiling Pablo Sandoval and the Giants resurgence. I’m really hoping Lincecum and Cain get a chance to throw in October this year.
No Longer Brewing
The Brewers officially threw in the towel on Wednesday by sending JJ Hardy to the minors and designating Bill Hall for assignment. I originally drafted JJ (pictured here) to play on my fantasy team. I began the year by drafting the hottest player at each position but ditched that plan after my 9th place standing at the end of April. I’m happy to report that I’m in fourth place now and glad that I find Carlos pena good looking cause I’ve had his production all year long.
